Construction costs rose by 0.4 per cent

The construction cost of residential buildings in Norway increased by 0.4 per cent in February compared with January this year. Material costs rose by 0.6 per cent in the same period. The cost of plumbing work increased the most.

Over the course of the past month the index for plumbing work rose by 2.3 per cent for detached houses and 3.0 per cent for multi-dwelling houses. The index for site preparation work for detached houses and multi-dwelling houses rose by 1.2 and 1.6 per cent respectively.

The construction costs of residential buildings rose by 5.4 per cent in February 2001 compared with February 2000. Material cost increased by 5.1 per cent in this period.
