Small changes in construction costs

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.2 per cent in February 2002 compared with the previous month. Labour costs remained unchanged and material costs rose by 0.2 per cent during the same period.

There were minor changes in material costs within the building industry except for stone, clay and cement work for detached houses. The latter rose by 0.6 per cent.

The construction costs of residential buildings rose by 3.0 per cent in February 2002 compared with February 2001. Material costs increased by 2.6 per cent and labour costs increased by 4.0 per cent in the same period.
