Construction costs up 3 per cent in 2005

The construction cost of residential buildings increased by 3.0 per cent from December 2004 to December 2005. The construction cost index remained unchanged from November to December 2005.

The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses rose by 3.5 per cent, while detached houses of wood increased by 2.9 per cent from December 2004 to December 2005. The material costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood rose by 3.3 and 2.4 per cent respectively in the same period.
