Construction costs up 0.5 per cent last month

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.5 per cent from April to May this year. The material costs rose by 0.2 per cent in the same period.

Wage statistics for the first quarter 2006 are included in the building cost of May.

The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.6 per cent, while costs for detached houses of wood rose by 0.4 per cent last month. The material costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood both increased with 0.2 per cent in the same period.

From May 2005 to May 2006 the construction costs of residential buildings increased by 3.2 per cent, while the material costs rose by 2.6 per cent in the same period.
