Construction costs up 1.4 per cent

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 1.4 per cent from October to November this year. Wage statistics for the third quarter of 2006 are included in the construction costs, and are the main reason for the cost increase.

The labour cost rose by 3.6 per cent from October to November this year, while the material costs increased by 0.3 per cent in the same period.

The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood both increased by 1.4 per cent from October to November this year. The material costs rose by 0.4 and 0.2 per cent respectively.

From November last year to November this year, the construction costs of residential buildings increased by 5.2 per cent, while the material costs rose by 5.4 per cent in the same period. The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses increased by 5.4 per cent, while detached houses of wood rose by 5.2 per cent. The material costs increased by 5.8 and 5.2 per cent respectively the last year.
