Construction costs up 0.4 per cent

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.4 per cent from December last year to January this year. From January 2007 to January 2008, the costs rose by 7.1 per cent.

In January 2008, the construction costs of multi-dwelling houses had the highest increase with 0.6 per cent. The increase for detached houses of wood was 0.2 per cent. Material costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood rose by 0.6 and 0.2 per cent respectively. For both types of buildings, the material costs of site preparation and electrician installation work had the strongest increase.
