Construction costs up 0.3 per cent

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.3 per cent from February to March this year. From March 2007 to March 2008, the costs rose by 7.2 per cent.

The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses had the highest increase last month with 0.4 per cent. The cost increase of detached houses of wood was 0.3 per cent. The material costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood rose by 0.8 and 0.5 per cent respectively.

From March last year to March this year the construction costs of detached houses of wood increased by 7.4 per cent, while multi-dwelling houses rose by 6.8 per cent. The material costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 8.6 and 6.9 per cent in the same period.
