Construction costs up 0.3 per cent
Construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.3 per cent from June to July this year, while material costs rose by 0.4 per cent in the same period. Construction costs of multi-dwelling houses increased the most.
From June to July this year, construction costs of multi-dwelling houses rose by 0.3 per cent, while detached houses of wood saw a 0.1 per cent increase. The material costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood rose by 0.5 and 0.2 per cent respectively.
From July 2007 to July 2008 the construction costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood increased by 6.4 and 5.0 per cent respectively.

Material indices for timber, concrete and steelThe material indices for timber, concrete and steel are available in a separate table . These are materials with a low degree of processing and therefore sensitive to fluctuation in the prices of raw materials. The representative goods and their mutual weights are taken from the construction cost index for residential building. Together, these groups of materials have a weight of 13 per cent in the total material cost index for residential buildings. |
