Slowdown of growth in construction costs

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 4.4 per cent from November 2007 to November 2008, while the material costs rose by 3.8 per cent in the same period.

From November last year to November this year, construction costs of multi-dwelling houses increased by 5.3 per cent, while detached houses of wood rose by 3.8 per cent. The material costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood increased by 5.7 and 2.5 per cent respectively.

From October to November this year the construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.7 per cent. Wage statistics for the third quarter of 2008 are included in the construction cost, and are the main reason for the cost increase. The labour cost rose by 2.2 per cent from October to November this year, while material costs decreased by 0.2 per cent.
