Construction costs up 0.6 per cent

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.6 per cent from July to August this year. Wage statistics for the second quarter of 2009 are included in the construction costs, and is the main reason for the cost increase.

The labour cost rose by 1.1 per cent from July to august this year, while the material costs increased by 0.4 per cent.

The construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.6 per cent from July to August this year. The material costs of detached houses of wood rose by 0.4 per cent, while multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.3 per cent in the same period.

From August 2008 to August 2009 the construction costs of residential buildings increased by 2.1 per cent. The material costs rose by 0.6 per cent in the same period. Construction costs of detached houses of wood increased by 2.3 per cent, while multi-dwelling houses rose by 1.5 per cent.
