Construction costs up 0.6 per cent

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.6 per cent from January to February this year. Labour costs rose by 1.3 per cent, while material costs remained unchanged.

From January to February this year, the construction costs of multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.7 per cent. The costs of detached houses of wood rose by 0.6 per cent.

Wage statistics for the fourth quarter of 2009 are included in the construction costs for February 2010, and are the main reason for the cost increase from January.

From February 2009 to February 2010, the construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 2.7 and 1.9 per cent respectively.
