Construction costs up 0.4 per cent

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.4 per cent from April to May this year. Labour costs rose by 0.8 per cent while the material costs increased by 0.1 per cent.

From April to May this year , the construction costs of multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.4 per cent. The costs of detached houses of wood rose by 0.3 per cent.

Wage statistics for the first quarter of 2010 are included in the construction costs for May 2010, and are the main reason for the cost increase from April.

From May 2009 to May 2010, the construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 3.9 and 3.4 per cent respectively.
