Construction costs increase

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.5 per cent from April to May this year. Labour costs rose by 0.8 per cent, while material costs rose by 0.4 per cent.

From April to May this year the construction costs of detached houses of wood increased by 0.5 per cent. The costs of multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.4 per cent in the same period.

Wage statistics for the first quarter of 2011 are included in the construction costs of May 2011.

From May 2010 to May 2011 the costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood rose by 3.7 and 3.6 per cent respectively.
