Minor changes in construction costs

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.3 per cent from April to May this year. Labour costs rose by 0.6 per cent, while material costs decreased by 0.1 per cent.

Wage statistics for the first quarter of 2012 are included in the construction costs of May 2012, and are the main reason for the cost increase from April.

From May 2011 to May 2012, the construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses rose by 3.1 and 2.7 per cent respectively.
