Increase in construction costs

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.5 per cent from October to November this year. Labour costs rose by 1.2 per cent, while material costs increased by 0.1 per cent in the same period.

Wages for the third quarter of 2012 are included in the construction costs of November 2012, and are the main reason for the cost increase from October.

From October to November 2012, the construction costs of detached houses of wood rose by 0.5 per cent, while multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.7 per cent in the same period. From November 2011 to November 2012, the costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses rose by 3.1 and 2.9 per cent respectively.
