Increase in construction costs

The construction costs of residential buildings rose by 0.5 per cent from April to May this year. Labour costs increased by 0.8 per cent, while material costs rose by 0.2 per cent in the same period.

Wage statistics for the first quarter of 2013 are included in the construction costs of May 2013, and are the main reason for the cost increase from April.

From May 2012 to May 2013, the construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses rose by 2.8 and 3.0 per cent respectively.
