House prices climbed 4.9 per cent in Q1

Norwegian house prices increased by 4.9 per cent from the fourth quarter of 2004 to the first quarter of 2005. Adjusted for seasonal variations, the increase was 1.8 per cent.

Prices of detached houses increased by 5.8 per cent in the first quarter, while prices of row houses and flats increased by 4.1 per and 3.0 per cent respectively.

Annual growth 7.9 per cent

The house price index has increased by 7.9 per cent from the first quarter of 2004 to the first quarter of 2005. Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim have had the highest increase, at 11.8 per cent. In Oslo and Bærum, prices have increased by 9.8 per cent in the same period.

A total of 11 313 sales are used in the calculation of the price index.
