House prices slightly down last quarter

House prices decreased by 0.9 per cent from the second quarter to the third quarter of 2005. From the third quarter of 2004 to the third quarter of 2005, house prices increased by 8.0 per cent.

Adjusted for seasonal variations, house prices increased by 1.7 per cent in the last quarter.

Prices of detached houses decreased by 2.5 per cent during the last quarter. Prices of row houses and flats, however, increased by 1.5 and 2.4 per cent respectively during the same period.

Prices up 10.0 per cent in Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim

From the third quarter of 2004 to the third quarter of 2005 house prices increased the most in Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim, by 10.0 per cent. Prices of row houses increased by 13.2 per cent in this price zone during the last year, while prices of detached houses and flats increased by 8.0 and 8.7 per cent respectively.

Scandinavian house prices

From the first quarter of 2000 to the first quarter of 2005, prices of detached houses in Sweden increased by 46.2 per cent. In Norway and Denmark, prices of detached houses increased by 36.8 and 36.5 per cent respectively during the same period.

A total of 16 120 sales are used in the calculation of the price index.
