Strong growth in house prices
House prices increased by an average of 6.4 per cent from the fourth quarter of 2006 to the first quarter of 2007. Adjusted for seasonal variations, house prices increased by 3.4 per cent in this period.
Prices of detached houses increased by 6.8 per cent, while row houses and flats increased by 6.4 and 5.2 per cent respectively in the first quarter of 2007. The price growth varied between 6.7 and 5.9 per cent in the four geographic zones.
Strongest growth in Akershus last year
From the first quarter of 2006 to the first quarter of 2007, house prices increased by an average of 16.7 per cent in the country as a whole. Akershus excluding Bærum had the strongest growth in this period with 19.4 per cent.
Denmark increased the most
From the third quarter of 2005 to the third quarter of 2006, prices of detached houses increased by 13.5 per cent in Norway. In comparison, the corresponding figures in Denmark and Sweden were 19.2 and 12.0 per cent respectively.
A total of 14 709 sales are used in the calculation of the price index.
