House prices increased by 2,7 per cent
House prices rose by 2,7 per cent in the first quarter of 2001 compared with the fourth quarter of 2000.The largest increase was recorded for flats, 6,5 per cent. Furthermore the index shows that house prices increased in all parts of the country.
Prices of flats increased the most in Oslo and Bærum, 7,8 per cent from the fourth quarter of 2000 to the first quarter of 2001. The corresponding figures for the major cities of Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim were 7,7 per cent. In Akershus (exclusive Bærum) and the rest of the country prices increased by 6,5 and 3,2 per cent respectively.
The overall price index shows that Oslo and Bærum had the largest increase in prices from the fourth quarter of 2000 to the first quarter of 2001, with 6,5 per cent. In the other major cities, prices increased by 3,6 per cent.
On an annual basis house prices are 8,4 per cent higher than in the first quarter of 2000.
The preliminary figures published on June 29th 2001, differs from the figures showed here. This is caused by a sharp increase in prices during the quarter. The preliminary figures are based on a predominance of sales from the first half of the quarter, and shows a decrease of 0,8 per cent from the fourth quarter of 2000 to the first quarter of 2001.
A total of 4302 sales have been used in the calculation of the price index for the first quarter of 2001.
