Largest rise in prices outside major cities
House prices rose by 8.4 per cent from the third quarter 2000 to the third quarter 2001. The largest increase was recorded outside Oslo, Akershus and the major cities of Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim, by 9.1 per cent.
In Oslo and Bærum, prices increased by 7.7 per cent from the third quarter 2000 to the third quarter 2001. In Akershus and Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim, prices increased by 4.1 and 8.3 per cent respectively.
Stable house prices between the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2001
The overall house prices fell by 0.1 per cent from the second to the third quarter 2001. In Oslo and Bærum and the major cities of Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim, prices increased by 0.4 and 0.7 per cent respectively. In the rest of Akershus prices fell by 2.9 per cent.
More expensive flats
Prices of flats increased by an average of 1.5 per cent between the second and the third quarter 2001. In Oslo and Bærum and Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim, prices increased by 2.3 and 2.5 per cent respectively. In Akershus (exclusive Bærum), prices decreased by 3.6 per cent. In the rest of the country, prices increased by 0.4 per cent during the same period of time.
A total of 7 231 sales have been used in the calculation of the price index.
