House prices stabilised by the end of 2000
After having fallen by nearly 3 per cent in the third quarter, house prices stabilised in the fourth quarter of 2000. On an annual basis, house prices are 8.9 per cent higher than in the fourth quarter of 1999.
In Oslo, Akershus, and the major cities of Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim house prices fell by 2.3, 1.4 and 1.9 per cent respectively, from the third to the fourth quarter of 2000. In the rest of the country the house prices showed an increase of nearly 1 per cent in the same period.
Flat prices decreased
The prices of flats showed a decrease of 2.3 per cent in the fourth quarter last year, while the prices of row houses rose by 1.4 per cent. Prices of detached houses were nearly unchanged.
On an annual basis house prices in Oslo are 10.7 per cent higher than in the fourth quarter of 1999. During the same period prices in Akershus and the major cities rose by 8.5 and 7.3 per cent respectively. In the rest of the country the house prices were 8.5 per cent higher than a year ago.
