The price is connected to the quarter in which the local authorities register the construction work as completed and not at the time of entering into the sales contract. Therefore, the price index for new detached houses intercepts large changes in the market with a delay of almost one year.

Prices of new detached houses up 9.0 per cent

Prices of new detached houses increased by 9.0 per cent from the third quarter of 2000 to the third quarter of 2001. Compared with the low point in the first quarter of 1993 prices of new detached houses have increased by 77.9 per cent.

The prices increased by 1.6 per cent in the third quarter compared to the second quarter of 2001. Adjusted by seasonally variations the prices increased by 2.3 per cent.

Compared with the low point in the first quarter of 1993 prices of new detached houses have increased by 77.9 per cent. The consumer price index increased by 20.3 per cent in the same period.

A total of 726 observations are used in the calculation of the price index.
