The price is connected to the quarter in which the local authorities register the construction work as completed and not at the time of entering into the sales contract. Therefore, the price index for new detached houses intercepts large changes in the market with a delay of almost one year.

Strong increase in prices of new houses

The last five years the prices of completed detached houses have risen by 50 per cent. In the same period the consumer price index has increased by 13 per cent.

The prices of new detached houses increased by 0.6 per cent in the fourth quarter compared with the third quarter of 2001. Adjusted by seasonally variations the prices increased by 1.4 per cent. On an annual basis the prices are 7.1 per cent higher than in the fourth quarter of 2000.
