The price is connected to the quarter in which the local authorities register the construction work as completed and not at the time of entering into the sales contract. Therefore, the price index for new detached houses intercepts large changes in the market with a delay of almost one year.

Prices of new detached houses up 6.1 per cent

Prices of new-detached houses increased by 6.1 per cent from the second quarter of 2001 to the second quarter of 2002. The prices increased by 1.9 per cent in the second quarter compared with the first quarter this year. Adjusted by seasonal variations the prices increased by 0.3 per cent.

Prices of new-detached houses reached a low point in the first quarter of 1993. Since then prices have increased by 85.7 per cent. The consumer price index increased by 22.5 per cent during the same period of time. Prices of used detached houses rose by 112.2 per cent from the first quarter of 1993 to the first quarter of 2002.

A total of 704 observations have been used in the calculation of the price index.
