Prices of new detached houses decreased

Prices of new detached houses decreased by 1.3 per cent from the third to the fourth quarter of 2002.

From the fourth quarter of 2001 to the fourth quarter of 2002, the prices increased by 5.5 per cent. Prices of new detached houses reached a low point in the first quarter of 1993. Since then prices have increased by 88.8 per cent. In comparison, the consumer price index increased by 23.6 per cent during the same period of time.

A total of 595 observations have been used in the calculation of the price index.
