Prices for new houses continued to increase
Prices of new detached houses increased by 2.7 per cent from the first to the second quarter of 2003. Adjusted by seasonal variations the prices increased by 1.3 per cent.
From the second quarter of 2002 to the second quarter of 2003, prices increased by 5.7 per cent. Prices for new detached houses reached a low point in the first quarter of 1993. Since then prices have increased by 96.3 per cent. In comparison, the consumer price index increased by 25.1 per cent during the same period.
A total of 555 observations have been used in the calculation of the price index.
