The price is connected to the quarter in which the local authorities register the construction work as completed and not at the time of entering into the sales contract. Therefore, the price index for new detached houses intercepts large changes in the market with a delay of almost one year.

Increase in prices of new detached houses

Prices of new detached houses increased by 7.3 per cent from the first quarter of 2005 to the first quarter of 2006. From the fourth quarter of 2005 to the first quarter of 2006 the prices of new detached houses decreased by 1.7 per cent.

Adjusted for seasonal variations, prices of new detached houses decreased by 0.4 per cent from the fourth to the first quarter.

Prices of new detached houses reached a record low in the first quarter of 1993. Since then, the prices have increased by 118.5 per cent. In comparison, the consumer price index has increased by 29.8 per cent in the same period.
