The price is connected to the quarter in which the local authorities register the construction work as completed and not at the time of entering into the sales contract. Therefore, the price index for new detached houses intercepts large changes in the market with a delay of almost one year.

Prices of new detached houses up 6.9 per cent

Prices of new detached houses increased by 6.9 per cent from the second quarter of 2005 to the second quarter of 2006. From the first to the second quarter of 2006, the prices of new detached houses increased by 5.3 per cent.

Adjusted for seasonal variations, prices of new detached houses increased by 2.5 per cent from the first to the second quarter.

Prices of new detached houses reached a record low in the first quarter of 1993. Since then, the prices have increased by 130.2 per cent. In comparison, the prices of used detached houses increased by 190.5 per cent during the same period.

A total of 415 observations have been used in the calculation of the index.
