Wholesale prices decreased by 0.4 per cent

The wholesale prices decreased by a total of 0,4 per cent from the 1st to the 2nd quarter this year. From the 2nd quarter the previous year to the 2nd quarter this year the wholesale prices increased by 0,2 per cent.

From the 1st quarter 2003 to the 2nd quarter 2003 the wholesale prices of agricultural raw materials and live animals increased the most by 2.2 per cent. During the same period the wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 1.7 per cent.

From the 1st quarter 2003 to the 2nd quarter 2003 the wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products, waste and scrap decreased the most by 3.2 per cent. This decrease was due to a major decrease for the wholesale prices of fuel by 6.9 per cent.

A comparison of wholesale prices from the 2nd quarter last year to the 2nd quarter this year shows that the wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products, waste and scrap increased the most by 1,3 per cent. Within this major group the wholesale prices of fuel increased by 1.0 per cent. The wholesale prices of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment increased by 1.2 per cent during this period.

From the 2nd quarter 2002 to the 2nd quarter 2003 the wholesale prices of textiles decreased the most by 1,7 per cent.

The wholesale prises for the rest of the groups showed little or no change from the 2nd quarter 2002 to the 2nd quarter 2003.
