Wholesale prices increased
The wholesale prices increased by a total of 1.4 per cent from the 1st quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004. From the 4th quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004 the wholesale prices increased by 2.6 per cent.
Of the six major groups concerning wholesale trade, five showed an increase in prices from the 1st quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004. The wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco increased the most by 7.7 per cent while the wholesale prices of agricultural raw materials and live animals increased by 4.1 per cent. The wholesale prices of machinery, equipment and supplies had a marginal decrease by 0.5 per cent.
Fuel prices increased marginally
The wholesale prices of fuel increased by 0.8 per cent from the 1st quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004. The wholesale prices of electrical household appliances and radio and television goods decrease by 1.0 per cent during this period.
From the 4th quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004 prices for five of the six major groups concerning wholesale trade increased. The wholesale prices of agricultural raw materials and live animals increased the most by 4.9 per cent while the wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 3.2 per cent during this period. The wholesale prices of machinery, equipment and supplies decreased by 1.1 per cent.
