Wholesale prices up 6.6 per cent
The wholesale prices rose by a total of 6.6 per cent from 4th quarter 1999 to 4th quarter 2000 and by 1.8 per cent from 3rd to 4th quarter last year.
The wholesale fuel price index shot up 26.3 per cent from 4th quarter 1999 to 4th quarter 2000. The wholesale prices of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment and supplies rose by 5 per cent while the wholesale prices of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment climbed 4 per cent in the same period. The wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco, machinery, equipment and supplies, and other wholesale trade not mentioned elsewhere all rose between 3 and 4 per cent. On the other hand, the wholesale price index for agricultural products and live animals decreased by 1.3 per cent during the same period.
Fuel prices up 8.5 per cent last quarter
The wholesale fuel price index rose by 8.5 per cent from 3rd to 4th quarter 2000. Wholesale prices of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment and supplies, and machinery, equipment and supplies increased by just more than 1 per cent. On the other hand, wholesale prices of agricultural products and live animals decreased by 0.4 per cent during the same period.
