Wholesale prices decreased by 0.4 per cent
The wholesale prices decreased by a total of 0.4 per cent from 4th quarter of 2000 to 4th quarter of 2001. From 3rd quarter to 4th quarter of 2001 the wholesale prices decreased by 1,0 per cent.
The wholesale fuel price index decreased the most by 12.5 per cent from 4th quarter of 2000 to 4th quarter of 2001. During the same period the wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products, waste and scrap and the wholesale prices of clothing and footwear decreased by respectively 5.7 and 2.6 per cent. The wholesale of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment had the biggest increase in prices. The prices rose by 3.8 per cent from 4th quarter of 2000 to 4th quarter of 2001. The wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco and the wholesale prices of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment rose by respectively 3.4 and 2.9 per cent during the same period.
Cheaper fuel
The wholesale prices of fuel decreased by 5.0 per cent from 3rd quarter to 4th quarter of 2001. The wholesale prices of clothing and footwear and the wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products, waste and scrap decreased by respectively 4.5 and 2.6 per cent during the same period. The price index for wholesale of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment on the other hand rose by 0.3 per cent from the 3rd quarter to 4th quarter of 2001
