Wholesale prices decreased by 1.0 per cent
Wholesale prices decreased by 1.0 per cent from the 2 n d quarter 2001 to the 2 n d quarter 2002. From the 1 s t quarter 2002 to the 2 n d quarter 2002 the increase was 0.6 per cent.
The wholesale fuel price index decreased the most by 6.2 per cent from the 2 n d quarter 2001 to the 2 n d quarter 2002. During the same period the wholesale prices of clothing and footwear and the wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 3.2 and 1.6 per cent respectively. The wholesale of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment had the biggest increase in prices. The prices rose by 3.0 per cent from the 2 n d quarter 2001 to the 2 n d quarter 2002. In the same period the wholesale prices of agricultural raw materials and live animals and the wholesale prices of furniture and non-electrical household articles rose by r 2.5 and 1.3 per cent respectively. The price index of the wholesale of electrical household appliances and radio and television was unchanged.
Increase in fuel prices
The wholesale prices of fuel increased 5.0 per cent from the 1 s t quarter 2002 to the 2 n d quarter 2002. The wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products, waste and scrap and the wholesale prices of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment increased by 2.6 and 0.7 per cent respectively. From the 1 s t quarter 2002 to the 2 n d quarter 2002 the price index of the wholesale of electrical household appliances and radio and television, the wholesale of clothing and footwear and the wholesale of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment remained unchanged.
