Wholesale prices decreased by 0.6 per cent
The wholesale prices decreased by a total of 0.6 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2001 to the 4th quarter of 2002. From the 3rd quarter to the 4th quarter of 2002 the wholesale prices decreased by 0.4 per cent.
Of the 6 major groups concerning the price index for wholesale trade, 3 showed a decrease and 3 showed an increase from the 4th quarter of 2001 to the 4th quarter of 2002. The wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco decreased the most, by 2.9 per cent during this period. The wholesale prices of agricultural raw materials and live animals decreased by 1.2 per cent.
Non-agricultural intermediate products increased the most
The wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products and waste and scrap increased the most by 0.5 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2001 to the 4th quarter of 2002. Within this major group the wholesale prices of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment and supplies increased by 2.7 per cent.
Agricultural raw materials and live animals decreased the most
From the 3rd quarter to the 4th quarter 2002 all the 6 major groups concerning price index for wholesale trade decreased. The wholesale prices of agricultural raw materials and live animals decreased the most by 1.3 per cent during this period. The wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.7 per cent.
The wholesale prices of fuel decreased 0.9 per cent from the 3rd quarter to the 4th quarter 2002.
From the 4th quarter 2001 to the 4th quarter 2002 the wholesale prices of fuel increased moderately by 0.5 per cent.
