Increase in transport prices
The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway was 109.0 (1996=100) in February, an increase of 0.5 per cent from January. From February 1999 to February this year the HICP increased by 2.9 per cent. The year to year growth in January was 2.6 per cent.
The increase from January to February is due to increased prices of airline tickets and higher prices on fruit and vegetables.
The HICP for the EEA in January was 105.1, a decrease of 0.1 per cent from December. From January 1999 to January 2000 the HICP increased by 1.8 per cent.
The statistics is now published as Consumer price index.
