EEA consumer prices up 2.2 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 107.3 (1996=100) in January, a decrease of 0.3 per cent from December. From January 2000 to January 2001 the HICP increased by 2.2 per cent. The year to year growth in December was 2.3 per cent.

The HICP for the European Monetary Union was 107.3 in January, down 0.1 per cent from December. The year to year growth in January was 2.4 per cent.

For Norway the HICP in January was 111.9, an increase of 0.8 per cent from December. From January last year the prices have increased by 3.1 per cent.
