EEA consumer prices up 1.7 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 113.7 (1996=100) in January. The year-to-year change in January was 1.7 per cent in the EEA. In comparison, the HICP for Norway fell by 1.4 per cent in the same period.

The HICP in the Euro-zone was 114.0 in January. In advance, Eurostat estimated the year-to-year growth in January in the Euro-zone to 2.0 per cent, while the actual price growth turned out to be 1.9 per cent.

For Norway the HICP was 115.9 in January, up 0.1 per cent from December. From January 2003 to January 2004 the consumer prices fell by 1,4 per cent, down from an increase of 0.1 per cent in December.
