Harmonized index up 0.5 per cent
The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.5 per cent from February to March 2004, and was mainly caused by a price rise after sales on clothing and higher prices of petrol and transport services. Lower tariffs on electricity dampened the price increase.
The HICP for Norway was 116.7 (1996=100) in March this year in comparison with 117.2 in March last year, a decrease of 0.4 per cent the last 12 months. Please see http://www.ssb.no/english/kpi_en/ for more details.
EEA, EU and the Euro-zone
The year-to-year growth in the HICP for the European Union (EU) and the EEA was 1.5 per cent in February. The increase in the Euro-zone was 1.6 per cent in the same period. Eurostat have in advance estimated the year-to-year growth in the Euro-zone to 1.6 per cent in March.
