Increase in harmonized index

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.2 per cent from March to April 2004, mainly due to a price rise of clothing and footwear in addition to higher prices of recreational goods and services. Lower airline fares dampened the increase in HICP.

The HICP for Norway was 116.9 (1996=100) in April this year in comparison with 116.4 in April last year, the year-to-year change went from a decrease of 0.4 per cent in March to an increase of 0.4 per cent in April. Please see the Consumer Price Index for more details.
