Annual growth of 0.6 per cent

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway rose by 0.6 per cent from 2003 to 2004. The HICP was 116.9 (1996=100) in 2004. The low annual growth was mainly caused by price decrease of clothing, electricity and passenger transport by air.

The HICP for Norway stood at 117.2 (1996=100) in December 2004 compared with 115.8 in December previous year. The year-to-year growth was 1.2 per cent in December, down from 1.4 per cent in November. From November to December 2004 the HICP went down 0.2 per cent. Please see http://www.ssb.no/english/kpi_en/ for more details.

EEA, EU and the euro-zone

The year-to-year growth in the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 2.1 per cent in November. The increase in the euro-zone was 2.2 per cent in the same period. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the euro-zone is 2.3 per cent in December.
