EEA consumer prices up 2.0 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 115.9 (1996=100) in January. The year-to-year change in January was 2.0 per cent in the EEA. In comparison, the HICP for Norway increased by 0.9 per cent in the same period.

The HICP in the euro-zone was 116.2 in January, and the year-to-year change was 1.9 per cent. In advance, Eurostat estimated the growth from January 2004 to January 2005 in the euro-zone to be 2.1 per cent.

For Norway the HICP was 117.0 in January, a 0.2 per cent decrease from December 2004. From January 2004 to January 2005 the HICP increased by 0.9 per cent.
