Increase in prices of clothing

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.7 per cent from February 2007 to March 2007. The growth was mainly due to a strong price increase of clothing.

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices

The HICP for Norway was 102.9 (2005=100) in March 2007, compared to 101.6 in March last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in March was 1.3 per cent, up from 0.8 per cent in February 2007. See http://www.ssb.no/kpi_en/ for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP for EEA and the euro-area stood at 103.0 and 102.8, respectively in February 2007. The year-to-year growth was 2.1 per cent for EEA and EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 1.8 per cent. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-zone is 1.9 per cent for March 2007.
