Marginal growth in HICP

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.1 per cent from March 2007 to April 2007. The growth was mainly due to increased prices on petrol as well as materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling.

The HICP for Norway was 103.0 (2005=100) in April 2007, compared with 102.5 in April last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in April was 0.5 per cent, down from 1.3 per cent in March 2007. See http://www.ssb.no/kpi_en/ for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP for EEA and the euro-area stood at 103.7 and 103.5, respectively in March 2007. The year-to-year growth was 2.2 per cent for EEA and EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 1.9 per cent. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-zone is 1.8 per cent for April 2007.
