Continuous decrease in HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway fell by 0.2 per cent from June to July 2007. The main contributor to the fall was price decreases for clothing and footwear due to seasonal sales.

The HICP for Norway was 102.9 (2005=100) in July this year, compared with 102.2 in July last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in July was 0.7 per cent, the same as in June 2007. See http://www.ssb.no/kpi_en/ for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP for EEA and the euro-area stood at 104.7 and 104.5, respectively in June 2007. The year-to-year growth in June was 2.1 per cent for EEA and EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 1.9 per cent. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-area is 1.8 per cent for July 2007.
