Clothing and footwear behind fall in HICP
The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway fell by 0.4 per cent from December 2007 to January 2008. The decrease was mainly due to falling prices of clothing and footwear, as a result of seasonal sales.
Higher prices of electricity and vehicles contributed in the opposite direction.
The HICP for Norway was 104.6 (2005=100) in January 2008, compared with 101.7 in January 2007. The year-to-year growth was 2.9 per cent in January 2008, compared with 1.9 per cent in December 2007.
