Decrease in HICP by 0.3 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway fell by 0.3 per cent from July to August 2009. Lower prices of food and clothing contributed most to this decrease.

Harmonized index of consumer prices

The HICP for Norway was 108.9 (2005=100) in August 2009, compared to 107.0 in the same month last year. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent in August 2009, down 0.3 percentage points from July. See the consumer price index for more details.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for June 2009 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was respectively 109.4 and 109.3, while the HICP for the euro area was 107.8. The year-to-year growth in July for the Eu and the EEA was 0.2 per cent, while it was -0.7 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area the year-to-year growth for July 2009 is estimated at -0.2 per cent.
