Decrease in HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.6 per cent from June to July 2010. The prices on clothing and airline fares fell most, while prices of food rose.

The HICP for Norway was 111.2 (2005=100) in July 2010, compared to 109.2 in July 2009. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent in July 2010, the same as in June.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for June 2010 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 111.9, while the HICP for the euro area was 110.0. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in June was 1.9 per cent for both the EEA and the EU, while it was 1.4 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for July 2010 is estimated at 1.7 per cent.
