HICP down 0.4 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.4 per cent from June 2011 to July 2011. Lower prices of electricity and clothes contributed most to the fall.

The HICP for Norway was 112.9 (2005=100) in July 2011, compared to 111.2 in July 2010. The year-to-year growth in July was 1.5 per cent, up 0.2 percentage points from June.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for June 2011 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 115.4, while the HICP for the euro area was 113.1. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in June was 3.1 per cent for the EU and the EEA, and 2.7 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for July 2011 is estimated at 2.5 per cent.

Detailed figures for July will be published on Eurostat’s website on 17 of August.
