Marginal decrease in HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.2 per cent from September to October 2011. The main reason for this was lower prices of transport services.

The HICP for Norway was 113.1 (2005=100) in October 2011, compared to 111.6 in October 2010. The year-to-year growth in October was 1.3 per cent, down 0.3 percentage points from September.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for September 2011 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 115.8, while the HICP for the euro area was 113.5. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in September was 3.3 per cent for the EU and the EEA, and 3.0 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for October 2011 is estimated at 3.0 per cent.

Detailed figures for October will be published on Eurostat’s website on 16 November.
